What it does….
Smooth, more youthful-looking skin doesn’t have to take a lifetime to achieve – quite the opposite! Precise injections across the face and neck can relax the movements of superficial muscles and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, making our ‘Aesthetic Health Muscle-Balancing Botox’ treatment a wonderful way of turning back the clock.
The painless procedure takes up to 30 minutes, depending on the size of the area treated. At your initial consultation, we will discuss your expectations and tailor your treatment to suit your muscles, skin, and your own preferences. We consistently aim to achieve relaxed results, leaving you looking natural yet refreshed. We will revisit your treatment at your follow-up consultation to make sure the results are meeting your expectations.
You may start to see a smoothing of fine lines in the treated area at 3-5 days post-treatment, but the results will gradually become more apparent up to 21 days later. Muscle relaxing injections have a lifting effect, opening up your face and smoothing the skin as wrinkles become less prominent. The effects of the treatment last between 3 and 6 months, and we recommend repeating the procedure every 3 to 9 months for longer-lasting results. As the muscles learn to break the habit of overexertion alongside the treatment, your skin will become more naturally smooth and refined.
Side Effects:
Common Side Effects Associated with the Injections Include;
• Pain or stinging sensation when the injection is performed.
• Localised swelling, redness, tenderness • Bleeding at the sites of injection
• Bruising
• Numbness or itching of the area following injection.
• Headache The above usually resolves spontaneously within hours or days, but may persist for longer.
• Eyelid ptosis (a drooping or heaviness of the eyelid, one or both), brow ptosis (heaviness and or lowering of the brow) should ptosis occur, it may take 3 or more weeks to resolve.
• Asymmetry of expression – Perfect symmetry may not be achievable; that caused by the treatment, can often be corrected at your review appointment.
After Treatment
You will be advised to keep the target muscles active for a few hours and to avoid extremes of heat or cold, vigorous exercise, lying down or leaning over for 4-6 hours. After treatment it is expected that you will start to see an improvement within 2 or 3 days. For some people this takes longer. The full result may be judged at 2-3 weeks. You will be invited to attend a review appointment at 2-3 weeks where the success of the treatment may be assessed and adjustments to your personal treatment plan made, if necessary. Should you experience any unexpected side effects or any that concern you, please contact the clinic. Botulinum Toxin administration can result in anaphylaxis (a severe allergic reaction) which in itself is life threatening and requires immediate medical attention. Symptoms of a severe allergic reaction can include shortness of breath, wheezing, coughing, difficulty swallowing, swelling of the tongue, eyelids, lips, hoarseness of the voice, stomach pain, nausea or diarrhoea. If you have any of the above symptoms please report to your nearest Accident and Emergency Department or call 999 for an ambulance.
